The Infamous Music
http://theinfamousmusic.mccurrycreations.com
  • Flash CS4
  • ActionScript 3.0
  • Custom PHP/XML CMS

Commissioned by the Houston, TX band, The Infamous Music.  Front-end user interface designed completely in Flash/AS3 for versatility, style, and custom functionality.  A back-end content management system was also created for the client using PHP and XML. This CMS allows the band to post news bytes and manage a user-populated mailing list.

Painted Desert Sheep Society
http://www.painteddesertsheepsociety.com
  • Flash CS3
  • ActionScript 2.0
This site was commissioned by a lady named Anita Garza, founder and operator of the Painted Desert Sheep Society. The site is entirely Flash-based, and was developed as a full-screen module. One interesting aspect of this design is that her current members (a good indication of her target audience) were farm hands, and many of them viewed the web at an 800x600 resolution. As such, this site had to be optimal on a smaller resolution, but still flexible enough to look good on larger screens.

Fractals Rock
http://fractals.mccurrycreations.com
  • HTML/CSS
  • Some Flash CS3 (AS 2)
In the days when college, work, and parenthood consumed most of my waking hours, my time to freelance was thin. As such, who better to create a site for than my own, patient self? This site, Fractals Rock, is a tribute to one of my favorite forms of nonrepresentation art, and exists as a subdomain of my portfolio site. It is a massive informational site on fractal design, aimed at beginners and expersts alike.

Historical Inventors

Historical Inventors

  • Flash CS3
  • ActionScript 2.0
This was a personal project developed to experiment with using mathematical expressions to create unique interactive motion. From mockup to design to execution, this had an obscure, invention-like appearance, and so I chose a handfull of my favorite inventors throughout history as the subject of the project. This is my homage to them. It is a fully Flash-based module, with most of the elements developed in Adobe Illustrator CS3.

Places to Visit

Places to Visit

  • Flash CS3
  • ActionScript 2.0
This was a simple experiment in external loading and preloading in AS2. I like this one because I was free to create an interesting, interactive interface. It's a small, but fun piece with a unique opening preloader.

Sean McCurry's Adobe Flash Tutorials

Adobe Flash Tutorials
http://projects.mccurrycreations.com/tutorials/
  • Flash CS2
  • ActionScript 2.0
This is a series of Flash tutorials that I created in college aimed at teaching some of my peers a few tricks that I had picked up along the way. As such, there may be a few comments here and there that were relative to course work. The scripting discussed in these videos applies only to ActionScript 2.0, as this was the language we were learning at the time. As such, it is hardly relevant to the AS3 design world of today. It is included here because it showcases the development of a complex, interactive video interface.

  • Flash CS4
  • ActionScript 3.0
This is actually the Artwork Gallery section of this portfolio, but I included it here for one very important reason: This was my first venture into ActionScript 3.0, and I must admit it was a daunting task. Much of the syntax of AS3 is more complex, but it becomes much more robust in the process as well. Once I became accustomed to the way script is handled in AS3, the other techniques I had grown to depend on in AS2 migrated comfortably into the new version.

The Art of Revealing

The Art of Revealing
http://revealing.mccurrycreations.com
  • HTML/CSS
  • Some Flash CS3 (AS 2)
This site, like Fractals Rock, was developed as a subdomain of my portfolio site. Where the previous site was targeted at fractal designers and those interested in fractal design, this site was a broad approach at the concept of light and shadow. It is primarily HTML/CSS, with a small interactive Flash element

Aesop's Fables: The Fox and the Crow
http://projects.mccurrycreations.com/fairytale
  • Flash CS2
  • ActionScript 2.0
This is an animated version of the Aesop's Fable story, "The Fox and the Crow", that I created when I was just getting started with Adobe Flash. My son kept watching me do all of these neat things on the computer, and he suggested I put something together just for him. There's not a whole lot of complex animation and the ActionScript is extremely simple as well, but it's a fun story nonetheless. My son certainly enjoyed it. :)
